Dear Pat,

I hope you are still well. Isobel and Anne are getting a passage over at long last. Yesterday a letter came telling her to be ready to travel at 24 hours notice after Sunday 23rd of June. That means she will be off on the Monday or Tuesday. They will likely be in Canada before you get this letter. Anne can walk and talk now. She is very bright and understands

most of what you say to her. She seldom cries. Isobel is so excited at getting across that she could not take her dinner yesterday. She is busy packing. May went back from her leave last week but will be back Saturday for more leave. I am 15 now and will be leaving school in a fortnight.
I caught a lot of fish this spring on set lines. I was fishing on Saturday and another boy who was with me caught 3 fish with the fly. I got none, as I have not a rod, and the fish are not very plentiful. Dad was filling his pipe

just now and the baby came over to him, grabbed a chunk of tobacco an went of chewing it. It must have been pretty hot but she did not spit it out. I will be able to take out a motor-bike licence next year.
Well I had better be going now so Cheerio,
Eric.
