Read the Letter
Dear Mother:
Although I had no mail from you yet, I'm writing again while I'm in a writing mood. I just finished a letter to Papa and Mrs. Fraser. I haven't been up to see him yet for I haven't had a chance. There won't be any leave for me until I leave here. I suppose you know what Lionel Vienneau is doing now or was doing about the time I left. Well I'm on the same thing and am really enjoying it. When we will leave here no one knows, maybe a week maybe a month or perhaps longer. At least it's a swell town and we are well treated and fed so they can leave me here forever and no kick coming. Frances' letter arrived today and it took quite a while to get here. By the way when did you receive my cable? I sent it on February 2nd, and an answer to it arrived here on the 22nd. That's about as slow as ordinary mail. We had some fun today besides being profitable to me. Thirty of us had a competition in rifle shooting and each put up a shilling (roughly 24 cts) as a prize. It amounted to thirty shillings and I fairly walked away with it. My score was 43 out of a possible 45. Some had as low as 16.
Frances mentioned that she sent in for some cigarettes. Well I hope I get them within the next two weeks, but there is so much stealing and rifling of parcels going on that I am a little worried. I suppose you must have read about it in the papers. Anyway it wouldn't hurt to send some about every two weeks and I'll let you know how many I get for some are bound to get through to me. The weather is a lot cooler than when I first arrived especially at nights. The mornings however are very warm up until about nine o'clock and then it gets sort of frosty. What was John up home for? He didn't stay very long only two days. What is he working at now since he quit at the docks? When you write address my mail to 3 (R.C.A.F.) P.R.C. until I tell you different. I think it will make a few days difference in getting here. Parcels however just address them to R.C.A.F. Overseas.
Papa was complaining about not getting any mail for quite some time. How is everyone, give them all my love.
Lovingly, Bunny
