My Dear Lucy,

You will wonder who this is from just the same as I did when I got your letter. Well it's from Nan Munro & as I saw your Dad about two weeks ago I thought you would like to hear something about him. Ian & I were home in Beauly for our holidays visiting my Mam & Dad who are alone in a little croft perhaps you won't understand the word "croft"? Well it's what we in the Highlands of Scotland call a small farm. Your Dad cycled from his camp to see me three days before I left for Ayr. I must say your Dad is a dear & we all think such a lot of him especially my boy Ian. While my husband was at Beauly, Ian & himself along with my Aunt's boy Simon cycled to the camp to see your Dad. He was ever so nice to them & Ian wanted to stay with him. It was very nice to get your most interesting letter with all the news about your family history. Your Dad told me lots about you all he seems to think the world of you all. It was nice having your Dad as he was so intrested in all we told him. This being the land of Burns he was so pleased. I wish you could all come & spend a holiday with us. Perhaps some day when all this war is over you will come. I will try & get some views of Ayr & send them to you. I know you will like them. We live in a nice part of Ayr & have a nice house & garden. The flowers are almost over now for another year. I hate to see the leaves changing colour it reminds you of the cold days ahead. Still we must make the best of it mustn't we? I hope your Mother & all the family are well. Please remember me to them all. Tell your Mam we love having your Dad & he is such a grand soldier. Hope your husband & yourself keeps well. I'm pleased to say we are all well & I am very lucky having my husband at home. Your Dad hopes to come & see us before the end of the year. I do hope he can manage it. Now I will stop & I hope you may find time to write me again. With love to you all & thank you for your letter. Yours very sincerely, Nan Munro
