Dear Lucy:

Thanks a lot for the box, it certainly came in handy. The cookies were swell but I haven't touched the cake yet.
We haven't anything to do this morning, so to kill time in class I'm writing you now instead of tonight as I planned.
I mailed you that booklet last night, when your finished with it take it over to mama will you. The booklet doesnt cover anywheres near all the village but at least you can get an idea of what it is like.
I had a big class picture to send home, but someone stole it on me. We were all in uniform of course.
I had my intermediat thursday affternoon and made eighty one point two. I came fourth in the class. The highest was eighty five point four.
Im going back to Detroit again this afternoon on a thirty-six and Ill try to get Sidney's stuff for him. I'm not sure whether I will be able to see tht fellow for him or not, for Grand River is out of the East end. However I will try my best. I don't like going too far into the cities suburbs because its an awfully easy place to get lost in.
I'll soon be out of this place, only five more weeks to go. None of our class is going to get an Eastern posting because there isnt any room for them now. most of us will get out to the middle west and the west coast.
I thought you knew that Francis is up in Montreal. She is out in Val Marin at the present, about seventy miles from Montreal but she is going back to Montreal in a couple of weeks. I don't know what she is

doing but she will get along alright.
The place is pretty quiet up around here now, most of the summer vacationists are leaving and besides the water is colder than it was last week.
If I do go west I will get my furlough before I leave, and I will be home for a few days.
Well I'm just about running out things to say and besides recess starts in a couple of minutes so I'll quit now.

Theres no doubt about the Americans being a lot friendlier than the westerners of here. I guess thats whats taking me back more than anything else.
