Dear Mother:

I didn't expect an answer from you so soon, I didn't expect it for at least six or seven days which is allowing a day for your writing and mailing. Yes I recieved the seven dollars in Lachine and the two dollars today and the papers too. The Northern light was June 24th. I guess you missed out a couple or else I didn't receive them for being lost somewhere

along the line. This is a lovely country. I'm only about five miles from a grand beach on Lake Erie and I go down swimming about twice a week. The town on the lake is only a small summer resort.
The week after next I am going to Detroit with Greg Dougherty who has relations there from Bathurst. Its only about one hundred and fifty miles from here. Ill have my forty eight then. Ever second week we

get a thirty six or forty eight. I may be able to go down and see Roger. Its about two hundred and fifty miles from St. Thomas.
We are studying engines now. Our first week we had the Wasp Engine with a lot of theory work. This week and next we will be working on Rolls-Royce Merlin engines. I'm not allowed to say much about them but they realy are easy to work with if a person is interested in them.

I never thought there would be so much too one as there is. I'll let you know how I make out as I go along. I made ninety on my first test last Friday.
I had a letter from Francis and she spoke about Anna being up to her place. I don't understand why you haven't had any word for so long from me. I wrote you regularly. the weather up here is funny. In the mornings the sun is shining and everything

is bright; then in an hour or so its thundering and raining which lasts for an hour or so. I forgot to tell you we are wearing our Summer uniforms made of Kackii. Its a very sloppy suit and hard to keep pressed. It gets dirty if you just look at it. The material we were supposed to have in our uniforms went to the W.A.A.F.'S for their clothes. I hope everything is getting along alright down there. I'll write again soon
Love James.
